Mornin' Everyone! Its so great to read everyone's story!
Its mad dash to get all the birds finished sortin and prepped for the sale I'm taking the ones I'm not keeping tomorrow. So far its looking like I'm gonna have my vehicle packed and a half. Its gotta happen tho. After all these are gone, then and only then I will do a head count to see what I'm at. There will still be a few that need time to fill out the rest of the way, but really, I think I'm heading in the right direction now!
Good morning everyone. By chance did anyone get the opportunity to look at my bird back on 2358? Maybe the PIC is not good enough quality, or maybe it just might be the photographer.
Oh well, just wondering if I'm feeding a lost cause or not.
I did see your boy and he is still pretty darn young, so determining what to do with him right now may not work. I can say that I like his body type and he looks like he has nice lacing and nice feathered shanks. It is possible that the hackle color may be a tad to light but then again it is very possible that it is the photo. I say give him another couple of months and you will have a better idea and you can keep posting photos of him whilst he is maturing.
If you see anything obvious right now such as sprigs on the comb or white in the body feathers or hackles (not the wing tips because this can grow out after 1st molt), squirrel tail or wry tail, crooked toes, webbed toes and such, then I say cull....but honestly from what I can see I would hold on to him a little longer before making any decisions.
WOW!!! Thank you all, that was a huge help of a pep talk! You guys ROCK!!
We don't have any Comm. Colleges around here, so online is going to have to do. It's been so long since I had to apply myself and keep a schedule, and I'm so afraid of what they will make me take to make up for it! So far, as far as I can tell, the only prereq is English 150, which is supposed to help you get organized for the writing class. Both classes are worth 3 credit hours. The school is Drury University, out of Springfield, MO., and it is accredited. I also noticed that you can take the online courses for free if you are not going after a degree. However, if you do decide to go for the degree later on, the credits are transferable. I do have 4 college credits already that I almost forgot about. Not that it pertains to any of this, but credits are credits, or are they?? That was a Comm. College in CA., and I took a, don't laugh, welding course. Me and 34 men, lol. They were pretty disgusted when I showed up on the first day, like I was looking for a MAN or something. I proved them all wrong, made some friends along the way, and graduated 2nd in the class!
When I was in High School, we all had our day with the counseler. He asked me what I wanted to do, and at the time, I wanted to be a doctor. He says to me, "you mean a nurse??" No, a doctor. "you mean a NURSE??? You don't have the grades for a doctor." That day pretty much did it for me as far as school was concerned, and that one idea stayed with me for life...you are not smart enough. I loved English and Science in school, but so help me, if someone even breathes the word "algebra", I'M OUTTA THERE!!!
So, for right now, I may just take the free online classes and see how it feels. I surely qualify for all kinds of grants, just based on age, locale, and financial staus; so that shouldn't be a problem if I decide to go forward. The good thing about the age difference is I'm not afraid to ask questions. The teacher may regret that one!
I may find some other courses I will like to take too. Law and Psych come to mind. Who knows, this may be a turn around point in my life? It sure can't hurt. Thanks again to all of your words of encouragement!
Thanks for the feedback, Pink. Maybe I am a little anxious, but I'm sorta winging it by never raising these before. Just trying to learn as I go, ya know. Haven't seen anything obvious to cull for at this point, but I don't have an expert eye, either.

Debbi, I too hated school as a young person. But college/university are a whole different ballgame. I do have a university degree and have gone back a few times to take additional courses (and continue to go back), both on campus and on line. Absolutely GO FOR IT!! There are more mature students than you can imagine. As a mature student, you are bringing life experience and motivation with you. You will be SO glad you did it. Nothing better than expanding the mind!!! (Except maybe chickens but you don't have to give them up to study ...
)
I totally agree with this, and would add that somone who has the drive that you do, can go ANYWHERE in life! TRULY!
