I am doing a lot of research on the black copper and the french black copper marans but reading isnt much fun so...which in your opinion is better? Which is bigger? What other than feather legs is the physical difference?

Went to Ohio National Show yesterday and there were no Marans there that I could find. April had a couple of pair of Wheaten there for sale.

They had several late entrys not in the book , but believe somewhere around 5500 or there about, there were over 450 exhibitors.

I did not show as I am without chickens at present, I went just to look and deliver the last Marans to someone. The entrys were really off because of the Crossroads Show.

As for which is better. Seems to me it's all about what you prefer - and what country you are from!

For me 5,500 is still a huge show! Around me there are mostly shows that are 2000 birds or less. I'm gonna have to make it to one of the bigger shows one of these days. For some reason I thought you had another breed too...maybe I was thinking of someone else.
Do you plan to get another breed at some point?

So I just bid on hatching maran eggs blue and splash Marans and wheaten.... is there a color difference in the eggs or are they all that nice dark dark brown?
I have never had a maran so I just started looking around for them...I really wanted to add the dark egg to my basket pretty much.
And this thread is super long.. lol

I went this morning and picked up 1 Blue Copper Maran chick, it was one of her culls because it was to dark for show. She said more of a charcaol then blue but it's only 2 days old and has feathered shanks. sooo cute

I'll keep an eye out for sex and post pics later today!!
