Seriously? If it were me I'd just be dropping the zoning allowance paperwork with the part on animals highlighted in their mailbox. People really can be super weird about stuff like that. I had someone once tell me that I needed to shut up my donkey because he was too loud. I just started laughing...I don't own a donkey... seriously made me want to go buy one tho! I was nice and clarified what zone we were in and the allowances for it, besides that fact that most of the neighbors here have lived here for 25 years or more and that just because they moved into a neighborhood in the country it didn't mean the zoning laws had changed magically, nor did it mean that everyone was going to just change things to fit their wants or whims. They kind of gave me this look like they realized they weren't going to be able to buffalo and push around people here. never had a problem since.

Think you might try again with another batch of eggs?

I notice he never comes over to say anything if my dh is around. He waits till he sees me outside and then comes over. Dh just left for work and I was out feeding the chooks and here he comes grrrr. I was nice about it because I don't really want my nieghbors for enemies but I can tell he is gonna be the type that 'give an inch take a mile' you know the ones that want to tell other how to live. I don't know why they don't just go live in an HOA there are tons of them here in FL. They only have a couple of pets and must have thier one acre cut to about a inch high every week by the lawn professionals and spray everything with pesticide that dares to grow on thier lawn. They hate farm animals and pretty much stay in thier house. I just wonder why they would want to move out here lol. If you drive down our street every other house has goats, horses, mini donkeys, guineas, geese, chickens, ducks, etc.
I thought we were the only ones with turkeys but the other day I heard some calling from the house behind us.
I really can't wait to move out of here. I think we need to be alot further out in the sticks.

I reaaaaally don't like those kind of people...the ones that wait til the person they think they can intimidate is alone to say things that they would never say if other people were around. I have three of those kinds of neighbors here. They don't bother me anymore...I'm a fairminded person, but I don't put up with that kind of stuff. I hear ya about the enemies thing tho...I try to be very decent about it and calm so they can't say a whole lot. There are a few neighbors around me tho that I'm sure wouldn't hesitate to whip out a shotgun to try to solve the problem. I agree tho...I soooooo want to be out in the sticks! I keep looking for land and have found a couple of places I like, but have some drawbacks that prevented me from pursuing them. maybe this next year will be the year for both of us to find places! I know I'm ready for more land so I can get some of the livestock I really want!

Nah I'm going to test my solid blue girls on my solid blue cochin. I'm going to throw them together tomorrow in a pen.

haha too funny...you might be waiting for a while since they aren't old enough to lay yet

Sounds like a good plan...have you had the girls in with other boys? If so you'll probably not be putting any eggs in for a while then eh?
Oh...do you have a close up of that blue birchen boys comb? I just was wondering how it was coming along?

which reminds me...I know where most of my flock numbers are coming from now...I was going through all of my birchens growing out today and comparing them to my breeding stock I used this spring and realized half of all of my birds are birchens

I have them spread out in about 6 pens and didn't realize just how many I still had. I am looking forward to seeing the rest of them finish out, but so far have pulled several breeder girls and some of the juvies to go to my moms layer flock. She's been beggin me for some for quite a while, so I thought might as well go all in and make her happy. Plus the bonus is that I will be able to still look at them even tho they are not perfect haha

yarg...I don't get people sometimes. I was always taught to respect people and their space and to mind my own business and not go out of my way to be a dink. I would never go over to someone's property and start demanding they do something to please me. I even felt bad when I had to repeatedly return my neighbors german shepherd that kept coming over and harassing my animals, because I didn't want to bother them, but they were decent and haven't had a problem after telling them exactly what she was doing.

Omg the last house I lived in the neighbors dog came over every day got into my brooder ate all my broilers. The neighbor paid for me to replace the broiler chicks. But continued letting his lab out. So I started catching her and hooking her up to a chain at my house until evening. Then one time he wipped out my entire turkey pen "just playing" I hooked her up to the chain and called the humane society
