Good Morning, Ladies!

Hey Pink, you got any snow?

It snowed briefly this AM at around 4, but just as soon as it started coming down in flake form it turned to snain or snush, which ever you prefer to call it and it hasn't done anything since.

It can hold off for a while longer too as we unexpectedly have to dig and open up the septic tank this morning so we can have it pumped today. What a lovely thing to come home to yesterday. Can you hear the excitement in my words????

I'm no card sharp but I know that a Royal Flush beats a Full House, any day!

I'm glad you are dealing with it now and not next Friday!

Good morning all

Well, I was afraid of this, and this morning it is quite obvious...ANOTHER CARNATION COMB!!!

Another Black Copper cockerel, they are just now 6 weeks. I thought I saw it coming on 2 weeks ago, but wanted to make sure. I held the little guy under a magnifying lamp, and there it was. This was after I specifically asked if the breeder has or had had any comb issues regarding sprigs or carnations. Either these people don't know what I was talking about, (but then wouldn't you think they'd ask??), or they introduced a new bird into their flock that was either expressing or carrying the gene, or they don't care and don't want to admit it. This makes me ill!!! This is, again, going to be an otherwise very nice boy, real heavy feathered shanks/toes, wide frame, etc. This is a major problem in this breed, and it is only going to get worse by the day! PLEASE!! Closely inspect your birds' combs!!! Not just the roos, but ALL PULLETS AND HENS TOO! Tried to take a pic of it, but he is a squirmer. May try again today with him in a seperate cage. I can't tell you how disgusted I am with this breed lately...

Can you access the Marans Chicken Club USA? Debbi and I posted some photos a couple of days ago of our birds with comb issues, more specifically, our birds that have carnation combs.
