Were these eggs you bought, or from one of the Birchen roos you got? My mind is like a sieve these days..

Good Morning, MARANS people!

We'll start with the current satellite picture...

Looks a lot like yesterday, doesn't it?

As a belated birthday present my animals are providing me with breakfast this morning. Pretty baby gave her all for the rib steak that is presently sizzling on the grill and the Marans ate a whole lotta food to give me the 2 #6 eggs that will accompany the lovely cut of beef.

I had a great birthday yesterday!

The only down-side was that I asked the most amazing woman for her hand in marriage and was promptly spurned...

but otherwise, a pretty darn good day!

So Pinkchick, are we going to dip the new fuzzy-butt roos in hot oil & have them for hours d' ourves at the dinner?

If we did, Andrew Zimmern might just show up next year!

It did go by fast didn't it? Geesh!
I purchased these eggs from the same folks as Raven did, BJ's Poultry. I am pretty excited to see what hatches after Raven had such a nice hatch. Of course I am hoping for as many blues as possible.

I put 2 Blue Copper gals in with the large Birchen male. One of the girls is Bill's daughter who doesn't show any copper and the other is my precious little Charmin Whipple, we'll see what happens if they ever decide to start laying again.

The Upper Coweeman was pretty angry yesterday...I could hear her like I was standing on directly on the bank. I could also hear our year round creek going berzerk yesterday as well. If the Alder trees hadn't taken over the road to the creek and the other side of the property I would have wandered down yesterday to see it, I bet it was very swollen. The Alders are so thick and so hardy that in just 5 years they have managed to completely block us off. Time to get Dad to bring up the hoe again and clean it up. However, at the rate Alders grow...heck we could be patient a few more years and log them.
