Unless I make it with the chocolate chips recipe, it comes out like crap LOL! Every year I tell my kids I think I will try and make fudge from scratch, I really think I could do it this year....and they all roll thier eyes and say, "I'm not gonna try it"! What's up with that? Rotfl..!! I really can cook and make all kinds of stuff from Asian, to Italian, to Mexican (my specialty) but not ever fudge from scratch so my family likes to give me cr@p for it lol.

haha my mom would agree with you totally! I've never tried making it, but found a simple recipe that everyone says that tries it is fail proof...so I might have to try that and if it works, I'll get it to you! I bet there is a recipe out there that will work just right for you....!
I love cooking too....I wish I were better at Asian cuisine...I love the flavors, it just harder to find some of the ingredients I need here

We'll see...maybe i'll have to put in an asian themed section in the garden!

Oooo, you had to go mention fudge, I LOVE IT! I think the recipe we used for fudge, was on the Hershey's Cocoa can? It always turned out right.

Awww Barb! I'm sorry! I've been in that boat too...its almost harder sometimes for me to check the eggs that didn't hatch...I've found too many like that from shipped eggs. I think its due to humidity..I still haven't perfected it yet, and I remember reading somewhere that higher humidities make the chicks a bit bigger in the shell and sometimes makes it hard for them to maneuver...I'm not sure, but it sounds like it might be plausible? I'm still thrilled with the ones you got! Especially after all that travel!

X2 I hate checking the quitters so much that I finally stopped doing it. It just makes me sad

My turkey is cooking, stuffing is in the oven, pies are done. Just have to do rolls, yams, green beans, potatoes and gravy. Oh yeah, and the eggs are boiling lol. Hmmm what have I forgotten? I usually work with a list so I don't forget anything...

Wow! Never heard that one, thanks! Is it hard (tacky), or soft (pouring) coming out of the can? I'd imagine soft?

I think it is just relative to the amount of time you let it cool....I opened mine quite a while after I took it out so mine was a little more solid...which is what I was looking for. I'll try heating some up a bit in the microwave to see if it turns back to soft...it should. What I have is kind of the consistency of sour cream, which will be perfect for dipping apples without making a giant mess with stringy bits all over! haha

I'm about the same place as you with Thanksgiving prep. I still have some bisquits I'm gonna try to make..they won't take hardly any time to make and sound really good. They include 7up of all things! Who knew

Grow some ginger, garlic, and the long red asian peppers. I also grow the asian/kaffir lime. It has a double leaf that is really awesome to use in stir fry or on any meat recipe. You can also use the bumpy rind of the limes. The fruit itself isn't that great. You might be able to find the leaves or rind in the Asian supermarkets or grocery if it has a good international section. OMG my oldest son makes THE BEST orange chicken I've ever had. He makes it a little bit spicy with red pepper but its not too hot. He likes to cook. Any girl that marries him will be a lucky girl !!

Barb ~ Sorry to hear that! I know your pain all too well. Next time, try lower humidity for the first 18 days, like 35-40%. Then for lockdown 50-55%. I did a few eggtopsies, and they were indeed too big to pip, and most had drowned. I also keep my vent open wide on my bator for the whole time. Mine is a King Suro 20, but is very much like your Brinsea. I also seem to have no problems when hatching other breeds, but the Marans I have yet to get right.
