I tried the cartons once, didn't particularly care for it. That was in the LG though, so may try them again in the new bator. Seems they had a harder time manuvering in the egg from what I can remember.

I'm also trying to recall what that one Splash chick did with her leg when I had that problem. Seems she held it out to the side, and ended up with a dislocated femur. Had to cull it, as nothing helped and she was in pain. I'll have to go check chick pics to see if I remember that right. I'd let it get it's bearings first, and watch how your chick uses it before putting on the vet wrap. So far, I've only had one I had to brace, and that was a splayed Silkie. Man, talk about a time getting the brace on that little squirmy!

Thanks, will do when I move it in the brooder, pink vet wrap hobble is all ready. Just never seen one with a leg twisted up behind the rear so I am a little caught off guard.

has it tried to use it when it trys to move around, I know it takes our a bit to get everything working right once they get out of the egg! Have not personally seen that.

Just looked and it now has its leg pulled up where it should be and is trying to sit/stand up!!!!

Thanks Vicki! Now that they have perked up (Thank you Hens

) it sounds like they are running around all over in there. I peek and look in with the light and they both lift their heads and look over.

Debbi~ I think I am liking the cartons and how they keep the newly hatched from knocking around the rest of the prespective hatchers. I was particularly impressed with the how well the last hatch went using them. I am going to give them a few more whirls before I make up my mind for sure.
