I am 15 miles one way to the nearest McDonalds, Wendys, or Burger king....
I'm jealous...I wish I DID live that far away from all those. The closest is McDonalds about 5 min drive to the one in the closest town to me...I really wish I lived in the middle of nowhere

That's probably a good thing though lol!! I have lived in places that didn't have a fast food joint for 50 miles one way or a walmart either, come to think of it. Saves you money and forces you to eat better and learn how to cook different stuff at least.
Geez you all need to stop talking about fast food...taco bell sounds really good. A Baja Blast soda and chicken quesadilla totally so awesome right now lol.
Back to the Marans Marans Marans...you can make chicken quesadillas with Marans.

LOLOL! That's too funny, as I had just read some breeder's websites saying Marans were too expensive and rare to eat!!!
Ok I went out and tried to take pics of Martha Jane. She is very shy and it was really hard to get a decent pic. These are the best I could do believe it or not. lol
She is almost 3 1/2 months old and has really dark eyes. At first glance they look like big black saucers
When I look really close I can see that they whole thing is not black just very dark. Is this a normal amount of copper for a pullet?
Sorry again that the pics are not better.
She is the only marans chick growing up in this pen. She has an eclectic group of buddies. One black rock cockerel, one blue rock cockerel, one black rock pullet, three naked necks (1 frizzle cockerel, 1 frizzle pullet, 1 smooth feather pullet). So needless to say this group will not stay together.
The egg on the top left that looks a little weird is from one of my Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucana eggs, actually all of the blue eggs are from my Ameraucanas.
I've noticed as the eggs get older some of them get splotchy like that... I dunno why.
Well, hubby was able to come up from Texas for Christmas! with the camera, no less.
It was a great present for me! So here they are, at 2 weeks old, my 7 Black Copper Marans
chicks.
This may seem like a silly question, but I have both black copper maran and cuckoo hens but only cuckoo roo. Will chicks. Be cuckoo? Or will some of them be black? Or would they all be splash?
