I think I froze my 9 month old BCM's comb
barnie.gif
. It went down below zero Fahrenheit last night and the boys are in a metal coop so it's a damp cold. Willow is the only one showing blue/black tips. I've had a heat lamp in there all day and he's been under it all day. I feel like such a SCHMUCK!!

Completely preventable.

This pic would of been a GREAT addition to our fault collection - - - Thumbprint.
Dang, I wish I had seen this pic BEFORE we went to the new system!

It would be a shame if he lost those points. How long before you will know for sure how much damage was done to the comb?

I'd say its between 3 and 5 if it were me....but its hard to say 100% without seeing them in person ya know?

Occasionally, there is ONE bird that outshines the rest. Usually, that is not the case ESPECIALLY if the birds are siblings.
I don't ever pick my favorite when I look at my birds. I start eliminating. When I get done, I am left with what was the best.

I just can't make a choice when there are too many birds.

Looking at your birds, I don't like the coloring on 4 and 6 nearly as well as I do the other birds. So, those would be the first two I culled.

Oh Donna! You crack me up!

I like 4 too, but think the depth of color is better on 5. I don't like how the color lightens on the 4th one...otherwise if he had the color that number 5 did, I probably would have chosen him...so you are learning just fine lady!!

Agree 100% on the color assessment for 4 and 6.

I started with nine from the beginning. The other three had shank and middle toe feathering problems, so they were the easy ones to cull.

So, I've been giving some of my slacker girls a pep talk....and for the most part they've done well with listening. And one tried and tried with all her might to be good and give me an eggie

she gave me a jelly bean size egg!!! Bless her little heart for trying, she was in such a hurry to give me one she forgot to stop in the paint shop first!

Hopefully she'll get back to laying her normal egg with good color again soon.

This week I'm going to be trying to get update shots of some girls. Particularly these two. Its been a couple of months since I took these shots, so figure its about time.
