Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Sounds like my uncle will be delivering the hatcher in the next few days! I'm so excited!

I also got a phone call the other day asking me if I would want to be nominated for possible show secretary for one of the poultry clubs in NE.....I said yes and the board of directors will be voting on it tomorrow at the club meeting. I'm not sure what to expect, I grew up helping run poultry shows and was show secretary for a while, so I know what's involved. I just don't know what to think. I'm hoping it will turn out as its supposed to....and that there will not be any bad blood with the current secretary if I do end up being selected (long, longstory on that front). I guess I'm just kind of nervous.

Exciting!

Congrats!!
I don't know how I feel about it.. I just know no matter what happens I will be ok with it. I do know if I am selected, there WILL be drama and I am so not a fan of drama at all. I think that's what I'm most nervous about and second is that I'm nervous about all the work it will mean, but I really used to enjoy this kind of work before, so we'll see.

Hmm - tough one....

Well, if you enjoy the work, it might be really worth it.

Hopefully, the other person can act like a grownup about things...

You're braver than me, I do my best to fly under the radar and stay away from drama
BUT, if it's the best thing for you AND the club, then it will be worth it!!

Thanks Katelyn for confirming. What you said is pretty much how I feel... I am a fly under the radar person too. I just don't enjoy it at all! But I do think it is a good opportunity for both the club and me.

Oh yeah, I read about that. This is a whole new chapter for me!
I have an EE hen who consistently lays the most vibrant egg.

It is always crazy beautiful. I think I might try to make my own olive eggers. What an idea!! Wait till my husband catches on to what I am up to! lol He might take away my incubators.

She lays about 5 a week... more where that came from! lol!!
I am thinking I need daughters from this girl. I might need to put her with one of my ameraucanas too.
She is a hatchery EE. I think she might have Quechua (spelled?) in her.
