Oh, and Debbi, I've got about 16 Ameraucana chickers now, they are fuzzies, but still have about half to go, so won't open til tonight or tomorrow morning. Kinda exciting to think of all the possible olive eggers, and that Ghengis will have some ladies of his own and maybe will leave me alone finally. I'm getting tired of him takin cheap shots with attacking me when I'm trying to do chores. What a jerk

Why is it not many folks like to hatch pullet eggs? Is it because they are unproven? Or the possibility of less fertility? I always seem to have the best luck with my pullet eggs, way more so than with the larger hen eggs.
Going out today and marking all the culls and posting ads for them. The chicken math is not working in my favor again, so some will have to go. This last batch of Silkies and SG are really looking good! Man, are they ever little pigs!! Randy is getting ready to send me some more Wheaten eggs, I hope. Randy, I just saw your post over in the Wheaten thread about your broody, so??? That will be my last hatch at least until fall. Yes, it will...I promise.

Wow, sounds good. Ghengis sounds a lot like Pip. My dog, Otho, has now found it is ok to chase the "bad roo" when he is bad. haha..too bad Nevada is scared of the chickens, otherwise she would be pretty handy to have as a guard dog when it was chore time. Although, I do have to admit that is Big Boy is around, he will guard me against Ghengis. He is really protective of me.Wow, sounds good. Ghengis sounds a lot like Pip. I forgot...last night went out to check on Ina (Pygmy doe) as she is ready to pop any minute now and what do you think I spotted? A possum....again. So moved all the chicks I had moved into one of the runs as I'm not quite done building in there. Got them safely in one of the barn runs after moving the adults that were in there to another area of the barn for the night. I am NOT going to be handing over any of this year's chicks to something like a Possum....grrrrr.
In other news, I think my piles of broodies are starting to see some action. I heard wee little peeps yesterday while doing chores in a couple of pens.

Time to set the traps again! I hate possums! Any possums or skunks that come here are shot on site! Boy, Ina is really making you wait for this one. Hope it's a doe, if that's what you want? I now have 2 broodies in the Partridge pen, and 1 steadfast gal in the BBS pen, that also incorporates her friends to help her set on her now MASSIVE nest! Someone had laid an egg in the food dish, and when I went to take it out, I got a not so friendly reception!

yup...I went up to the hay mount right away last night before I moved the chicks to grab the traps and set them. Then moved everyone. That's pretty funny about your broody ladies!
Yesterday at the sale there were three boxes with broody hens that either had guinea keets or chicks under them and the guy picking up the boxes in the ring to display them got nailed a few times. They were NOT happy ladies!
