That may be a Marans cross, but it sure isn't pure. EE or OE comes to mind. Marans don't have the muffs or tufts, whatever you call those feathers by the ears! Marans also don't have that color of legs either. Think I'd be calling the so called "breeder", and ask what's up??? Either someone was fence jumping, or they don't know who is breeding what!
Does the hen lay blue eggs? You will not get blue eggs from him. What would be the chances of breedin him with a hen later, and getting colored eggs?![]()
I was thinking if he had color genes then maybe there'd be a possibility, lol, I'm new at breeds, Have raised them before but just now getting into them farther, instead of just getting eggs, lolDoes the hen lay blue eggs? You will not get blue eggs from him.
Quote: Pea Comb is what you are looking for to get blue/green eggs.
Cool, sounds awesome, ThanksYou could breed him with a Maran hen if your looking for darker eggs or an Americana if your looking for greener eggs. Either way would be a great learning experience and a lot of fun.
