Maybe these chickens will encourage your DW to tackle the computer. I learned it doesn't bite and it's hard to blow it up. Now I try all sorts of things. Still not a pro but better than I was!!

Yikes...no wonder I'm beat...just heard the heat index here was 114 today. So miserable. But, looks like my birds made it through alright, but never know til you hit the day or two after really on some birds.

we pulled 70 gal of water out of the creek to have ready for the heat coming. 96 today and 101 Saturday. It is really odd to be so dry here. I was getting shocked by the shopping cart at Walmart today. Usually with heat we get humidity.... not this time.

So far I don't see any chickens stressing so maybe it is a good thing they are all in shaded areas or covered. I didn't see any temps higher than 101 .... 110 I might panic!

The drier weather may be a God send with the higher heat. Breathing always is difficult with the humidity and the heat. I'm as far south as I will go. I grew up coastal Maine and miss the cool, let me get real here, COLD evening water off the ocean. I wore a wool sweater every day and have the collection to prove it !! LOL

Well I grew up in Massachusetts and moved to Maine. And now I'm as far south as I'll go.
Not on the coast, though, but still, it is relatively quiet here.

Got a couple questions, first one. How do you know if your chickens are Bev Davis line or Wade Jeane line? And second, if you had a BCM from both lines, would it hurt to mix them? I think I have two different lines, cause both of my hens are built a little different

I guessing that you would need to know from the start which ones were from which lines and have them tagged as such- maybe others will have a better insight.

It depends on what you are looking to accomplish, one can always test mate and see what the offspring look like-just take good notes and tagged the offspring at hatch so you can tell as they grow bigger. HTH
