What points do you speak of? I am curious cause i have raised my keets with my chickens and have never had an issue. I have even been able to train my keets which folks say is impossible lol. They have the routine down and i get them locked up every night along with the chickens. Maybe it's the coop which is very large and 8x8 with and 16 ft run who knows but they get along great. They free range during the days with guard dog protection. I also did not brood the guineas with chicks they were done alone and then integrated into the flock as young keets.

You answered your own question, when you said you did not brooder them together. Until this year I have raised hundreds of Keets and Chicks and if you leave the two in the brooder be very careful.

Ah i see what you mean now. Yeah i did not brood them together and i don't plan on getting any more keets unless something happends to the ones i have now. I have 16 and that's plenty LOL weird critters they are for sure.

I asked this in another section of the forum, and they suggested I post my question here. I ordered Wheaten Marans from Sandhill Preservation. I'm not sure if that is what I got or not. The ones that I believe are roosters have 2 different neck colors, and the pullets coloring doesn't look right to me. They are 3 months now, and I didn't know if they would change as they get older, or if they were maybe a different kind of Maran, or just poor quality. Can someone please help

#3 Pullet- Notice the crooked toe. They sent me a chick with a fused toes on both feet, and I cut them apart.

Right up there in the realm of "dumb questions" and I'm sure applies to any breed but does a cock's fertility go down when he's moulting?

These would be typical for Hatchery fowl. The females would be ok for layers and that is about all.

Barb, I would say indirectly since the male would not be as active, I know for sure that the older males are not as fertile.

Vicki, will bring in the wheaten and a few White end of September. Trying for a bank roll for Ohio National and maybe Lucasville.

Local lady had me come over Monday and look at her large fowl. I saw some Self Blue Orps. and Silv. Laced Wyandotte that look pretty good.

All the cages are empty and cleaned, I lime and sprayed all of them , but they will never all be full again.

Sounds great Don. I don't blame you for not filling all of the pens full, I'm working on thinning out the last of the young from this year's hatches and stacking up the birds that have made the cut against my breeding stock I used this year and replace some of them with the better ones I hatched. Hoping for the best hatching season yet next spring.
I'd love to see your birds when you get them!
