Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

ooo - the junk jaunt looks really fun!!
At least you'll be doing something you enjoy!
exactly. It is tons of fun, especially since a group of us go out and it is such a good time. I've even run across some poultry breeders and have fun getting the tour of their birds while everyone else looks at the stuff they have for sale. The other part is that we got to Fort Hartsuff which is absolutely beautiful. It is a place I feel so much peace at, the only thing that would make it better there is if I lived there and all my Marans were running around in the courtyard of the fort.

OK, finally got a close up of Furball's comb. Still undecided on boy/girl. 9 weeks old tomorrow. Opinions?

and

as opposed to my obvious roo, Hank. I know he's an EE so not the same type, but his comb is SO obviously rooster, to me anyway

The Black Copper is most likely a female and I would take a close look at the end of the Comb blade area , looks odd.

Another one of Craigslist , for funnies.

FREE PET CHICKEN...to a good home. She is a laying hen and does produce eggs w/o a rooster. Lucky follows you around like a dog, she is always by your side. the funniest all white chicken ever. I would not recommend her to be around dogs unless you know they wont attack her. She was the last of our chickens that survived the weesles and coons. I hate to get rid of her but Branson cant be around her anymore. If I put her in the coop she will be a sitting duck for the coons..let me know!

I have a choice of five chickens from here what different ones should I get? I am looking for the prettier, docile ones. Any advice would be great.
