Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

I am glad you are making progress in finally getting a chance to start a line up. DD and I were talking and she will be starting her 4th year in working with her Blue Andalusian chickens- she has just 1 original hen left from the chicks she got. We are excited to see what the offspring will look like with the coming year hatches. She has 2 cockerals who are showing some better lacing

There is just something eye catching about the blue chickens, it will be neat to hear how things progress for you

I totally agree. Blues will always be my first love in poultry. I need to try and get some photos of the girls. They aren't perfect, very sparse leg feathering, darker eyes, and etc, but that's all stuff that is easy enough for me to work on.

I take that back, I said first love in poultry, I should say first love in all animals. I have always had blue animals of all kinds!

Hi Everybody! *Waves*
Welcome to all the new Marans peeps joining the thread!
Chefswifey~ Hi Lady! Good to see that you found the thread. Lots and lots of great folks 'round here.
Congrats on your new roo.......... it looks like he has yellow legs, does he? If he does then he will probably work out best for your olive egg project that we spoke about the other day on the phone.
VIVI~ The chicks are adorable! Congrats! Oh and in answer to your question...no she does not have birds from me that I know of, unless she got them from someone else by the by.
I put just over 4 dozen eggs in the bator a couple weeks ago and upon candling the other morning I removed 2 dozen clears....darn it. They rest are set for hatch on Monday.
Thank you. I Am happy but sad as well lossing the birds I have worked so long on. Just have to chalk it to a hard lesson learned. VIVI

So Turkey day is upon us. I hope everyone has a safe and Happy one. So far I have baked off about 30 pies and 40 cakes for the Elderly shut in. Tonight Pumpkin, and Lemon margarine Pies. So lots and lots of good food, and button poppin. VIVI

I hear you. I remember sitting at the kitchen table just bawling like a baby trying to finish my Masters and thinking I have no life but work and school. Now I look back and think how did I do it, cuz now it just makes me tired just thinking about it. I have more time then most cuz I was never able to have children, so of coarse I have many babies in the people I care for and my many many animals. VIVI

You are a good MOMMY!

I just finished school a few years ago (at 38 years old) then got married had a baby, bought a house, remodeled it, sold it, had another baby, got chickens ..... and it has been down hill every since

We are working on another house now and THEN we can think about BUILDING our FOREVER Home
