Oh my goodness...you fell into the dream!!For the most part I'm ready. Have family coming in tomorrow night, but are gonna start the baking and prep tonight and tomorrow. I was hoping for a sussex to be ready to process, to have alongside the turkey, but just not quite up to weight, so will have to wait.
Oh! KIM...I have to tell you! Anna that used to come on here before she had to sell out when she moved, sold me some of her hens. She got them from someone that said they were from a pure blue line (which would mean silver based)....and wait for it......they are! I have to test mate the other 2 to be 100% (they are sisters to the one I know for sure). Anyways, one of the blue girls has been running with Gigantor and she gave me a really nice dark blue cockerel....and guess what....he is a BIRCHEN! Straight lovely silver coming in on the neck!
That is exciting to hear isn't it- that someone has hopefully found some pure blue stock to work with-Oh my goodness...you fell into the dream!!I have been looking for 2 years. Please let us know if and when you are ready to share (even on a limited basis
) please!![]()

Long train but worth it!I'll be testmating to make sure and some of the future of a solid project is dependent on getting a solid male out of either this blacks or blue eggs I have in the incubator. I still don't do shipping on eggs or chicks, so if these turn out like I hope they might, a chicken train would probably have to be sorted

I haven't shipped eggs but have hatched shipped eggs and had a pretty good turn out- all depends on how they are handled in between the shipper and the receiver.Long train but worth it!
I do ship eggs and have had fantastic results. Have you tried and not had good results?
Quote: Correct, when I say fantastic results I mean from hatchers on eggs I shipped to them. I can only vouch for my methods.![]()
It can be a crap shoot when I find a breeder that I want to ship to me and what their wrapping and shipping practices are.
Not to mention the beloved USPS and x-raying.![]()
