I sure hope so. I have several really nice pullets and hens I'm wanting to make sure I have time to test mate. The only think I don't like is waiting a month for them to clear so I can start collecting eggs on the next matings. So, I'm hoping if I come up with an alternating plan I can collect eggs regularly from the different matings. I'm determined to make some really good progress this next year. That Luella sure is a nice bird! I bet she gives you some nice offspring..especially with those gorgeous boys of yours.
yep, only have to bring a couple of items to my brother's house- not to hard![]()
Wow that is cool- hope the other 2 turn out 100% blue as well.... maybe have to talk about getting some eggs from you down the roadFor the most part I'm ready. Have family coming in tomorrow night, but are gonna start the baking and prep tonight and tomorrow. I was hoping for a sussex to be ready to process, to have alongside the turkey, but just not quite up to weight, so will have to wait.
Oh! KIM...I have to tell you! Anna that used to come on here before she had to sell out when she moved, sold me some of her hens. She got them from someone that said they were from a pure blue line (which would mean silver based)....and wait for it......they are! I have to test mate the other 2 to be 100% (they are sisters to the one I know for sure). Anyways, one of the blue girls has been running with Gigantor and she gave me a really nice dark blue cockerel....and guess what....he is a BIRCHEN! Straight lovely silver coming in on the neck!

They host Thanksgiving and we will host Christmas- we also have to alternate between the two sides of the family(mine and DH) as to who gets what day each year.Hope you have a great time! It will be a mad house here again this Thanks-mas, we do both holidays at one time here so that family members and friends from out of state or out of town only need to make one trip. Thursday will be my busy busy day cooking and prepping for the celebration the following day.
