I am very happy right now I took some pics of my BCM's from Will Marrow they are just layers but I am thinking about breeding them. I think they are the best testament to him ever! THESE ARE HIS CULLS!!!!!!!! for no reason other then they don't have quite the right amount of coppering for him I got them for practically free. The egg color from his birds is great though these girls are still settling in so they haven't laid for me they are also starting to molt.

Here the girls are at the alert.

Thanks Chef, I am just so happy with them. I just love them. I am still crushed I lost my best hen. Her babies are wonderful, but I don't think they will be as correct as she was-but hopefully they will be great egg layers.

I will post one of my pictures of Bee's eggs for everyone to see. She has one hen, the Wonder Hen, who lays the absurdly dark eggs. I am sure her other hens lay dark as well, but not like the Wonder Hen I believe.
I took pictures at the Fresno, CA show. Her stock is B.Davis so I expect the birds are correct in terms of feather color. Some of the B. Davis hens tend to be more black-hackled I believe which to me is not a big deal, but I have no idea what Bee's hens look like. Bottom line, if the bird was green, she'd still be worth a fortune

Henry! Those girls are beautiful and they look so happy. Why were they culls? Is it something very minor like leg feathers? Be sure to post your eggs when they start laying.

It had to do with the amount of hackle coloring Will wanted in his hens there color isn't brassy at all I think they just had a tiny bit to little for him. There conformation and leg feathering look good for me.

Here's one of the pictures I took at the show. I don't ever doctor any of my pictures. I do take lots of pictures with different angles and camera settings and with the egg pictures, I select the pictures that most closely represent the actual color of the eggs-at least to my eye. I didn't use flash in that room because it washed the color of the eggs out and didn't represent what they actually looked like.

So, you can see which eggs are hers. Obviously, her entry got 1st place. Her eggs were scored with an 8 for color. I was pinned second-I was a VERY distant second to the Wonder Eggs. I think my eggs scored a 6 for color-but I actually can't remember now.

Charles Logan's eggs placed third-they were lovely, spotted eggs.

The eggs are judged on shell color, shape, texture and uniformity.

You were at the show?!?! I saw the eggs and i think that the darkest there were the bantam eggs that werent in the show the marans in the show were beautiful also

Their confirmation looks great. I couldn't really see their feet I was just wondering if that was the reason. Well, that is really cool. When are they due to lay?

You know, I had never seen bantams before that that show and I just fell in love with this tiny bantam Old English rooster. He was so cute-he just stole my heart.

I wanted to take him home, but I couldn't figure what I would do with him. All my chickens are standard.

OH, I just noticed where you live. You are referring to the show this weekend, correct? That picture I posted was from a Fresno, CA show earlier in the year.
How was the show this weekend?

Oh wow i think the show was good this weekend Bev Davis was there but there werent any eggs as dark as those dark ones but like the other eggs except the bantam eggs i dont have any pics though.
I must say that the marans were very to type and beautiful.
