Hi all,
Funny question here. I haven't had any type of chicken for about 18 years now, so my memory may be off. Came home from the store the other day, and walk in to see all 4 of the chicks lying flat out on the bellies, beaks extended, and one leg stretched out behind them! I must of let out an audible gasp and they all jumped to their feet. Gees, I thought they were all dead! LOL. I don't ever recall seeing any chick or adult chicken do this before, but like I said, my memory may have slipped. Is this a typical Marans (or in my case maybe) thing?? They are all doing great. Some moths got in the door the other night, and they were flying into the brooder and being promptly eaten by my little ones! All are sprouting wings and tails, and one, the first born, is trying to fly to the top of the brooder. Put an end to that with a lid! Wish I could get a pic of this lying posture, it sure is cute, and I've seen them do it several times since. Any one else's do this?
