I only know one of the guys that sells Marans eggs at the auction you are talking about. He only has Gold Salmon Marans. He did tell me that a while back he sold some eggs that were crosses but he said that they were labeled as such on the cartons.
Myself and others I know have bought eggs from him and have had no problems. His cartons are always clearly labled. Sometimes he may have a carton that has 6 Marans eggs and six Polish or whatever just to fill a carton but they are always labled as such.
Of course I am not sure the eggs you got were actually from him or from someone else that had eggs there.
Also it has been hard for me at this auction to hear what they are selling sometimes as the auctioneer and even the pit guys aren't very clear.
