MARANS?

I could tell pretty much at 3 weeks. The combs of the cockerels start to stand out. There are other ways, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to talk about.

My Marans, at 3 weeks, is chest bumping and has a comb about double the size of the other chicks. He's a dude. LOL

Our Marans is 12 weeks old and she weighs twice as much as our other pullets. And we have a tiny Buff Orpington, for sure a hen, who has been chest bumping for weeks. The Marans isn't the pretties chicken in our flock but she makes some of the sweetest sounds including cuckoo. She also trills the most, I guess she's happy!

My cuckoo marans grew much faster, has huge feet(as a chick it had to run to avoid stepping on it's own toes, now at 2.5 Kg/19weeks it's feet still overlap) sounds like a sick goose but no sign of crowing, black feathers have just a hint of cream barring. Not sure if it's a timid cock or a hen.
Lets see if this growth chart works, (three hatched a week after the other three, but they are charted by age not date.)
