I'm trying to upland from my phone, so it's slow going. Here is thevpile. I can't see much, but I counted 7 hens.

Oh my goodness - that's fabulous!
Last night when I was checking on everyone at 'bed time' I couldn't find my 10 week old Biele cockerel (and he's not little!). Finally, I pulled a few pullets out of the way, and there he was, under them all....adolescent boy heaven?

Wow, I got behind, but didn't see much that hasn't already been commented on. Orr is a great host!!

On the detached air cells, I had one rolly air cell that started to develop, but quit on day 8. If they are fully detached, where the air bubble will move (or even has multiple bubbles), no matter how you hold the egg, those rarely do anything. I have had decent luck with ones that are just saddled, or just move around the fat end a little.

Not turning at all for the first couple to few days helps let them reattach.

Oh, and about candling....get the highest lumen flashlight you can find!

This thread sounds like fun! I just joined BYC (even though I refer to this site anytime I need to find an answer) and have just successfully hatched 2 Cornish Bantams, and have 7 more eggs in the incubator due later this month.

That is too cute. I bet they'll do great. I do wonder if the chicks will be confused as to who to follow. Lol.

A good friend of mine grew up in Ivory Coast. They always had chickens hatching out babies, and every now and then, a chicken would neglect a chick, or toss them from the nest. They learned that they could put the chick under a young pullet (not a full grown hen) at night, and after a few continuous nights, the pullet (just a "teenager") would start to take care of the chick. I haven't tried this yet, but it would be interesting!

It's day 10 so I candled my turkey eggs. There are 6 with little turkey embryos swimming around in them. 4 don't look to be developing anything. Hopefully they keep doing good.

Just put 4 eggs in my homemade incubator wish me luck.
