March 2017! Hatch with us!

I
Do you have a bator you could pop them in? They may still be good as long as it's not freezing. If you've got a bator you can put them in I wouldn't throw them out till they've been in at least a day or two.
grabbed them and candles them as fast as I could inside and straight into the bator they went! They were cold to the touch and looked like they were almost ready to hatch I figure if they wern't abandoned that there would have been 10 of the 11 hatch I just put my batch in lockdown so the humidity was good I'm just praying I can save just one of the little white eggs. I was so hoping that they would make it she is my last Dutch bantam and my little baby

x2! If you have a bator, that's the way to go. They will probably be fine. If not, can you make their mama a nice warm, dry broody pen? It doesn't have to be fancy. Lots of great examples here on BYC. If you put her back in with them in an enclosed area, she may settle back in.

Keep us posted!

This hatch is only my second now on lockdown from 25 on this hatch lockdown have 17 some were not fertile but yes I got a bad case of math I have 2 doz on the way and started collecting eggs for round 3 trying for a half a box this time at 48 eggs. Then after I'm back from Texas I just might do a late year hatch and my dutchie decided to help she is sitting on 11 herself so I'm lost as to any more numbers this dang chicken math

or did I miss something else too??? I'm lost!!

ohhhhhh wait I did my cats helping me too!
It's a matter of perspective really.
I don't own an incubator (yet). I have One very broody silkie and I'm hoping to see that she's passed this trait onto her 3 daughters from June 16/17 last year who are laying but not yet brooding.
My crazy-hatch spanned 5 weeks, you know I'm telling the God's honest truth. And I have 2 adorable chicks which I'm tickled about.
Now do you see why I said that?

Just checked my dutchie I've got problems!! She is off the nest it's cold outside and she seems like she's not going back to it looks she kept them dry but looks like she couldn't deal with the rain and cold for her she has abandoned the nest m intervening hopefully I can save one of them!
Aw Geez, it was going so well. Rain, yup, not a favorite to sit in.You've probably already placed them i9n the bator which is a more sure way. I would've said to quickly erect an "Umbrella nest for her...you're very creative and handy. Just maybe a future idea if a broody is sitting without a roof or walls. What I would do is either move the entire nest into a covered nest box in the exact same location or better yet, build a temporary walls and cover. I personally would just use a wooden veggie crate or plastic milk crate, either of those with plastic covering the openings and a "door" cut out on a side that she could get out thru to do her biz. Perhaps a fglap of plastic over the door if she can figure that set up out well enough to be comfie.
I'm only able too say this bcs I have a green house that--obvious is hundred times larger but it is constructed on the same principal.

So, what have you done with the eggs?

I know i know crazy math lol it's exciting just to see one hatch it was a miracle that even one hatched the first try but I have hopes that I will be back to where I was at the end of last year happy with all my hens thinking about new spring Roos and a smile that I would be expanding my coop in a few months all was well and to see it all dissapere is a travesty. Now I have my hopes up again making my forced retirement a little easier
