I just started 6 today. First time for us trying to hatch our own so didn’t want to go crazy and have more little peeps than we could handle. Hoping for good luck. We shall see.

I set 9 my first go around, ended up with 5 birds, out of a home built incubator. hope it goes well for you.

Setting 5 dozen chicken eggs mostly pullet eggs Welsummer, Lavender Orpington, Araucana, and Isbar.

My new incubator is fluctuating 7/10s of a degree and that makes me nervous. Going to position it against another wall in the room

I’m no expert by any means. But, I’d honestly expect a little fluctuation in temp with such a large incubator. It’s super nice by the way. A serious investment I’m sure.

Ahhh my broody broke out of the brooder while I was at work and went back to the wrong nest! I have no idea how long she was off, I was gone for 7 hours. It wasn’t freezing today so hopefully it didn’t kill the eggs. I think I have to let her hatch in the spot she’s been sitting and move them afterwards.

I say let them sit where they want and mark the eggs. Remove any fresh eggs as they are laid.

I found a local breeder and picked up 9 Ameraucanas and 12 cornish/white rock cross. Set 21 eggs on 2/27 for a March 20th hatch. The 14 American White Breese are on Day 13, so I'll be candleing tomorrow.

LOCKDOWN TOMMOROW! YAY!
I'm worried about when i lay them on their side!, What if i lay them where their beak is facing downwards by accident?
Is there a way to candle them to make sure they pip upwards?

My first March chick is here. its the 2nd today which is day 21. It's from my blue olive egger hen and unknown cross breed rooster. One of the other eggs has also pipped which is a Welsummer with the same rooster. My broody Bella also has two of the olive eggs and two welsummer eggs on lockdown
