March Hatch A Long... anyone with me??

Just candled the 7 silkie eggs I have and 5 are bouncing around like crazy, one looks like it's developing but a little slow and one is clear. So hopefully I will at least get 5, which is plenty for me. Just hope they make it to the end.

I have some in the bator for March 4th Hatch!

I am in, setting eggs on Sunday the 20th. I am setting Lavender Orps, Buff Orps, Dominiques, Salmon Favorelles.
The incubator is balanced and I just ordered a new Spot-Check thermometer. I am so readddy for those little fuzzy butts, it has been a long time since last summer.

Awesome! I saw my first bouncing baby today too! I am still just amazed...this is my first time with trying to hatch eggs and it is so fun. I have a WLH hen sitting on 11 eggs, the only one I could see an embryo in was her white-shelled egg. The others are dark brown and just too hard to see through. I am happy to have at least 1 baby on the way

I noticed when I lifted Flash off her eggs that she had a completely bare chest LOL...she's plucked out all her breast feathers to make sure those eggies are nice and warm. I heard they would do this but hadn't noticed since I can't get her off those eggs for even a second. She looks pretty funny.

I just set mine this evening at 7:30. Temp is right on, but I'm having trouble with my humidity (it's measring 55-60%). Hoping it's just my stupid hydrometers as I barely put any water in the trough. I'm off to purchase one from Petco tomorrow and hope it helps!

I *think* I have at least 13 of 18 with embryos inside... we are at day four, so I am going to check again in several days. There are only a couple that look clear, the rest I just wasn't sure.

That sounds like a great deal!

Isn't it? I told her that's not necessary, but she said that some of the BCM eggs may have had questionable fertility so in order to be fair, she'll replace any that don't hatch. I tried candling them, but it's true what everybody says--they're really hard to see into.

What did you use to wrap them up? It might be better just to put them between/on top the ones in the middle, without wrapping them up - that can block the air

(but I don't know, just guessing).

I used waxed paper but I actually had to rearrange after the picture. I was a little worried about the air flow and the cover wouldn't go on the way they were in the picture so I did wind up doing more like what you suggested. I did use some wax paper to help keep them in place but put it between eggs instead of wrapping them. DH kept saying, you know that thing only holds 24 eggs. I told him that I could get creative and make them fit. After changing some of the smaller eggs to the top layer, I was able to get the cover on.

Now I know I will be good and not candle until day 10 because I don't know if I can get them to the same position.
