March Hatch A Long... anyone with me??

I candled yesterday and out of 29 shipped LF Brahma eggs, 22 are developing. Out of the 14 light eggs I got, I pulled two for blood rings which means that all of them were fertile. That is awesome! At least they are all down in the tray now.

Now all I have to do is leave them alone until next weekend to candle again.

oooh yes!! I just put in my biggest batch of eggs yet this Sunday. I am so excited. I've had the hatching bug all winter but only now am I allowed to go overboard. Woo hoo!

Can you tell me what type of brooders you will be using this is my first time - i have a small amount of Japanese Bantams that will be hatching - do people use rubber maid tubs? Aquariums etc?
And also if these guys brood in the house - do i really need a 250 watt heat bulb? And should it always be red ?

Just put 9 bantam sultan eggs in the bator yesterday.

Of course the temp that had been steady for 2 days spiked to 104 in the afternoon then dropped to 95 overnight.

Rubbermaid totes are great. They are easy to clean and the sides are tall which helps keep the chicks in the "brooder"

Depending on the number of chicks you are hatching, I don't know if that would be big enough. They grow pretty quickly.

Probably don't need one that strong, depending on how far away the bulb is but I have had a devil of a time finding a red bulb that is less than 250W. Red bulbs are suggested to help keep them from pecking each other. I don't know why, but I do use one.
