who are you getting the Barnie's from?
I am looking for some too! (and I live pretty close to you prolly)
I just went over the phases of the moon with a friend who's relatives have raised fowl for years...
they only set eggs to hatch on the waxing near full moon...
so, that said, you should set them on the 24th to the 26th.
I had a hatch this weekend, which was not great, and my hatch showed it! it was the waning moon to new...
I'm getting Barnevelder eggs from tls_ranch, she lives near you I think, Redding? She has a gorgeous flock!
Hmmm...she's sending the first batch on the 25th I believe. If I set them the 27th, would that be close enough?
I'm going to completely rebuild my bator this week so I have a better chance of a good hatch.
I just have to decide which item I want to use for the box. I have a small apartment size fridge and a big Omaha Steak styrofoam box.
I candled eggs again tonight. Out of 42 set in the incubator. One stopped developing so we tossed it. so now we are down to 41 in that incubator. The 2nd incubator has 35 in it and they are mostly bantam eggs so I'm trying to wait a few more days to candle them since they will probably be harder to see.
