Well, today apparently was Texas A&M Quail hatching day. We had rockers last night but this morning I heard movement in the incubator at about 5. Two had hatched one was fluffy and one was wet. I'm thinking grrrrrreat. One will live, the other will not and no one else would hatch. So, I just kept an eye open....had about 5ish chicks at about 9. One had a hock kinda stuck and I ment to "assist" but forgot and went to breakfast. We got back and Stuck Hock Dude was free and we had 18ish chicks. We had to move them since they were running over eggs and causing general mayhem so into the brooder they went. We still have rockers although not that many and about 4ish maybe 5ish wet to fluffy chicks in the bator and I lost count at 25. Talk about running around!!! They seem to be eating ok and drinking which is a really big deal with quail. I have that green BioGel stuff and they really like it. They like it even better when Mama MustLoveHens feeds them their mash.
So, I have no idea how many we will end up with out of about 55ish eggs. We still have till the 29th. They hatch 17 to 19 days. The quail hatch is going much better then the chick hatch did and now I'm feeling kinda guilty since I didn't turn the quail eggs much nor pay super close attention to the humidity and heat in their Still Air LG.
