So far I have the following:

43 due on the 6th got 35 hatched...81%
45 due on the 13th got 36 hatched...80%
63 due onthe 16th got 43 hatched...68%
70 due on the 20th got 58 hatched...83%
25 due on the 24th got 21 hatched...84%
49 due on the 30th

This gives me at total so far of 295 for March...
So far we are at a hatch rate of 197 of 246 so 80%...we must do better than that...

I think with the 49 on the 30th we will break 200 babies for March...but our percentage will not reach even 84% if all of those hatch...but I will take it and love all of them at least I am getting to keep some of these...Yeah

UPDATE: DAY 19.... 49 in lockdown...41 'OE's and 8 Polish from shipping

My 1st hatch attempt trial run with my old hovabator 1602N that I retrofitted with a fan kit:

8 eggs 3/6/11
7 eggs 3/17/11
Lockdown 3/25/11
2 chicks hatched 3/26-27
1 dead pipp 3/28

4 eggs still in incubator will wait a few more days.

These were free eggs / mixed breed chicks...
Picture of my 1st hatchlings ... what do think they'll look like grown up ?

The cutie on the right looks like a cochin, judging by its feathered feet. Very cute, I just love the chipmunk pattern on chicks!

I am working on getting my humidity up, preparing to lockdown 5 eggs after I turn them this evening.

I sure hope these hatch....

Trying to put a tape shoe on a silkie showgirl chick is hard! It's outer toe is so far underneath it's foot it was impossible to get it out straight and taped down. I tried to just get it out from under it's foot and then tape it hoping that walking on it will force it out more. I'm gonna check it and retape late tonite hopefully I can get it out further second go round. Sound reasonable?

I had to make shoes for 2 of our hatchlings this time... they were late stragglers & both of them had difficulty coming out of their eggs. One of them is much more severe than the other, but they have had the shoes on less than 24 hours & already look better. I made them out of little round pieces I cut out of a bandaid box & little round bandaids. It was not easy... you ain't kiddin' about that part! Even with just the 4 toes on a standard chicken, can't even imagine trying to mess with a silkie! You got extra toes AND feathered feet to worry about. I'm glad you got them on yours ok, and you do what you gotta do "for now".

BTW, we have dubbed our 2 babies with shoes "Reebok" and "Nike". (grin)

LOL Reebok and Nike! That's adorable! I sent out the eggshell on my showgirl and my first ever hatched at home silkie to get them DNA sexed. I can't afford to do them all but I figure those two being my firsts were worth it. Here's hoping for two girls!

The hatch they came from is still stalled I fear it's a dud

2 of 13 hatched no more pips or shaking/peeping. Three eggs are on day 22 in a few hours and the other 8 are almost on day 23.

Impatient! Just wishing for a sign of life! I pulled them all out and did a quit sniff test because I could swear I was smelling something funky from the hatcher. I think it might be left over hatch junk that is smelling.

I only got one white (I mean yellow now- white to be

). They hatched on Saturday and the last one not long ago - it's still in the bator. 21 out of 32 eggs, 2 died at hatching, 2 eggs were clear, the rest died at some point during incubation. One I had to cull so I have 20 at the moment.
