March Hatch-A-Long.( How is it gettting here so quick ? LOL )

Still waiting here. We're on day 20 by my count, so all is not necessarily lost yet. No pips, no rocking, no peeps, nothing yet. The suspense is killing me. After all the drama with this bunch, I'm really hoping a couple hatch. I have another bath going in on Thursday - back to back is how we are doing it this spring.

So, I have a mixed batch of shipped eggs in the bator now: 5 Isabel orpingtons on day 12, 14 mixed (3 BCM, 3 blue marans, 3 Wheaton marans, 2 OE, 2 BBS AMs, 1 BLRW) also in day 12, 5 lav orp on day 11, 8 lav cuckoo orp on day 4, and 7 lemon cuckoo orp on day 4. I'm really excited about this hatch!! I just got done with a week and a half hatch-a-thon - sorry I didn't post much, but I was too busy with the hatches to post much. 57 chicks hatched over a week and a half! I had to build a bigger brooder :)
Good luck to everyone's hatches!!

We took out the ones that didn't hatch, but are keeping them nested over the wood stove to stay warm. Then put fresh eggs under her for the March hatch. She seemed happy with the new eggs and was placing them. I took a picture of the little girl with the bigger ones from a week ago and there is a big difference. Noticed that she is really learning fast from the older ones. Also took a picture of my extra large egg with banty eggs and one of it with a normal egg. That hen had to be crying when she got off the nest.

When I started with my chickens last summer I didn't know that I was going to get so hooked. Now have to plan when we go somewhere if we get back by dark or go after putting the chickens up. Maybe even talking a grand child to filling in for us, since they all can drive and enjoy the eggs.

And the majority live within a mile.

as soon as the weather lets up we are completely enclosing the runs near the doors so when and "if" we go somewhere we just won't let them out past that point that day....we went last month to the rodeo and I worried, once it got dark, the whole time!! I still enjoyed the bulls though

...then stressed all the way home!

57 at once WOW I thought I was bad!!

can't wait for the weather to break so I can get these chickens out of the house lol....actually the chicks are pretty easy it's the little ducklings in with them that spread the water every where and keep the brooder stinky

isn't this adorable??!! did you design it?
I did, its one of the 3 we have, albeit the best looking (if I don't say so myself). If you are interested I kinda detailed the design and build here, Thanks a ton for the compliments! We're reaching capacity in the bator, just a few more to go, think I'm gonna have to crack it open and make a little room..

Our house is right outside the backdoor, the porch and chicken house are all fenced in. I let them out during the day, but keep count off and on all the time. I call them and they come running to see if I have something.
