Day 7 on my 14 shipped BLRW. These were detached when they arrived.. good packaging, etc. Dry hatch. 11 of 14 appear to have veining and movement, 1 looks clear and the other 2 are questionable (either they have veining and I can't see it, or possibly early quitters).
just 2 weeks to go!

my frizzled ameraucans ( EE's) are pipping officially due tomorrow

I am doing something I usually don't try to do...I am doing a staggered hatch. I bought a second LG to use as just an incubator so my first one can be my hatcher. That way when it's time to put eggs in lockdown I can just move them to the second incubator and not try to deal with hatching eggs while others are still incubating. I have 6 days to go until the first eggs are ready to go into lockdown. I'm a tad nervous about moving them over since it's the first time to do this but I really want to see how this works out. So far most of the eggs look good. I've been pulling eggs out if they look like they are clear or look like quitters and replacing them with new eggs. I haven't have very many I needed to pull out so my flocks fertility rate is up from what it was a month ago! I am building my Barnevelder flock so most of these I will grow out and keep the best of the bunch. Looking forward to seeing what I get! It's going to be a long week!

cool! I had to buy a hatcher incubator recently too :) we will be keeping an eye out for your peeps in 6 days!

Today was supposed to be clean and set up brooders day, since tomorrow evening is lockdown, but it became clean the shed and clean the coop day instead. I did round up all of the supplies (minus one awol brooder lamp) for the brooders and will probably sanitize and set them all up tomorrow. The flock was happy it was nice enough for me to clean today.

(most of them get kicked out into the run and the door shut behind them so they don't fly at my head when I'm cleaning - and with the one roo outside, I can let the second one into the main coop with his ladies without risk of accidentally contaminating my pure breeds with my other roo).
Still too cold to do a deep clean with a scrub and wash down of everything, but got all the bedding removed and replaced and all the nest boxes revamped and filled with clean bedding too. Had just enough bedding to do the coop, so I'll need to go a Fleet Farm run for some more to set up the brooders. Probably pick up a couple spare brooder lamps too, just in case. Already stocked up on Sav-a-chick and other necessities. So excited for fluffy butts this coming week
