March Hatch-A-Long

Pics
Yeah, so many made it to lockdown, don't think it's an issue with their chickens. I'm going to blame either it being still air or possibly getting too cool in shipment. We shall see.
I wasn't necessarily suggesting that it had to do with their chickens, just curious. I think I would blame shipping as I have a still air incubator, but that's just me. I don't really know what went wrong with your hatch, but hopefully this time around will go well.:fl

Well, their packaging was superb. It's coming to a good ways (600 miles) but they are in foam shippers, with great filler and then inside a bigger box also with cushioning. They were amazingly packaged. So, who knows. All I can do is try. Even if I get just another 3 that will be the original 6 I wanted lol
Well, whatever the reason it didn't work out, hopefully you'll end up with some more chicks in a more successful hatch. They are quite an interesting breed in my opinion.

More pullets is always better. It is quite disappointing when you hatch chicks and all end up being males(something that I've unfortunately experienced several times). For me, it has been especially rough with cochins where I've hatched three girls for 32 chicks! I was very disappointed.

Yeah, it's just a tiny bit. I was worried about that as well. I'm not sure what other options there are. A wet paper towel was suggested. I may do that if it's safe.

It was due yesterday, actually! Non of them are in a hurry to hatch for whatever reason.

Both the one I opened by accident and another one 'pulse' if I put the light up to them. You can see the membrane go up above the aircell line a little bit and then go back down. Like a slow heart beat or breathing. One I can only see it do that through the shell. The other did it while I was poking it with a Qtip and oil.
With it being time to hatch I would do the paper towel and hope for the best.

7/8 hatched! :celebrate
That’s what I get for doing it the way I usually do :p
3 white, 3 black and white and another mystery duckling. I’m so tempted to keep the two odd ducks to see what they turn out like! Seriously one of my favourite things about mixed birds - so fun and surprising!
