So far I think 24 chicks have hatched!!! Today is day 22 not sure if anyone else will hatch.
When you can what does an internal pip look like?

I usually wait until day 25 before tossing any out. Occasionally you will get a late chick.

Internal pip - When you candle the egg you will actually see the beak poking up through the membrane.

Thank you I did have to open the bator to help one chick who had been stuck in her egg for over 12hrs, she was fully zipped just having a tough time popping that lid. Before I helped her out I checked for pips on the other eggs. I candled the 2 eggs that were in her carton and didn't see anything but maybe a blood ring :(

Hi everyone, my first time incubating
I set 25 eggs 3/4 at 2pm
and 4 fresh this am 3/5
due to hatch 3/26
breed is delaware rooster, with different hens delaware mix, new hampshire, and isa brown, the hens are all excellent layers. so hoping to get some good layers out of this hatch..

Good Morning,

Naglady..glad you joined us..............

Good Grief, so many posts and so much I would like to respond to..........
Brook: I wait 25 days also
before I toss eggs in lockdown.
Quick story.............Emptied the hatcher thinking hatch was complete.
Put the eggs in a wastepaper basket meaning to toss in the garbage later.
Was greeted by chirping later.a beautiful blue Marans chick completely hatched and not happy about being cold.

To those who lost hatches.Happened to me also until I finally found a system to work for me...........
Have had good hatched since. For me, I needed to lower my humidity the first 18 days......
Now I run 30ish 18 days.65 or so for lockdown.
Just hang in there...you'll get it............

I candle day 11 and 18.....

I failed to post on this thread that I have a new Serama chick.cute as a bug.

I think my own eggs may have gotten to cold before i collected them.not one hatched and I usually have 100% with my eggs.

Lockdown again Friday for me. Will be BLRW'S and mixed....
Such a nice thread, I really enjoy being here

Ok here's a pic of the mallard ducklings I got this morning- they are so dang cute! And I got this corner little pan, made for rabbits & ferrets for them to use a little place to swim while they're little. They LOVE it! Oh and Brook, I took your advise about the horse bedding pellets- they are GREAT

LOVE the little 'pond' you have for them...definitely an idea I'll borrow! AND the horse pellets idea too!

I just weighed/candled everyone and all but two outliers have lost the appropriate amount of weight! The two cochins with weird %'s have perfect aircells though...so I'm thinking something was wonky with my scale during the initial weigh in or...I have no idea.

Here's my system!
