Well good luck to ya... Make sure you drop a line in 2 weeks!I use a similar LED flashlight here in Thailand. Works great! Looks like we're hatch buddies as mine are also due on 21st. I've got 12 Brahma eggs in the bator. Candled last night, day 7, and saw 6 chicks moving around all over the place. Very wriggly!
Got one possible blood ring...maybe leave it another couple of days to be sure. However, there is a dark black dot visible too and no movement, so I'm thinking this chick has died. Am I correct? The other 5 appear to be clears, but again I'll leave them another few days and see if they develop.
I'm sooooo happy to finally have something alive.![]()
I had 24 eggs under broody hens last year and not a single live chick hatched. This is my 2nd attempt now at incubating and the first possible success. Yaay!!!
YES!!!I just realized....This is SO facebook for chicken people.![]()
I LOVE the live-cam idea! I can't wait! That's how I turn my eggs except I use an egg carton wedged under to make a 45 degree angle.
So I just candled my eggs, day 20 for most of them and day 18 for the rest. I HAVE INTERNAL PIPS! Two are pipped internally, a couple are bumping the membrane, and the rest are taking their sweet time, but everyone's alive!
For anyone who cares my hatch cam will be live tomorrow to catch the action! I'll be checking them in the morning for external pips!!!
First batch of babies all made it but one. They are beautiful!![]()

Then I will clean bator and fill it up all the way for the Easter hatch! Banies polish and my RIR and maybe done silkies or Cochin.
Yea!
Pug - I'm sorry to hear about the chicks.Pug
That must have been so heartbreaking So sorry!!My circuit flipped yesterday but i was home SOO luckily or all my bators and my brooders would have gone out![]()
4 bators!!! GUH.
Well i will sound like a broken record this month b/c i have so many hatches of lavender orps but ppl want them so ....
Anyway in my home made hatch bator I had a pip tonight day 21 ..9 pm.
BUt last hatched on day 22 dont know why temp was right .but i guess these will too .
Only 6 eggs. this time.
I got just 2 chicks last time, Dont know why my hatches are so low
.A friend hatched my eggs the other day and got 9 out of 14!! My temps are right on , my humidity is 25-35..
I havent cleaned the bators in a long time b/c i have eggs on eggs going in so maybe the water gets bad.
They look clean and the water does too as the eggs are in cartons and i dont hatch in there but i cleaned them anyway today Only thing i can think of.Will see.
Cynthia12,
Probably not a Serama. Most hatcheries (actually all that I know of) don't have Serama's because of their small size and the lethal leg gene they carry that causes them to die in the hatching process. She's a real cutie though!
