March Hatch-Along Thread- Come Hatch With Us!!!!!

Starting my first incubator hatch ever. Have 13 Easter Egger Bantams going in tonight.
99.5
50% Humidity days 1-18
65% Lockdown

Raised chickens years ago and am just now starting to get back into it now that I have the property to free range finally :) Never incubated before so I am hoping for the best even though these are mail order eggs, however, they do seem to come from a very legit farm and were packed very well. Only took 2 days to get to me and the air sacks all appeared intact after candling for them. So all seems well so far, now to set them and wait. Really excited for me and my boys to experience this :) Wish us luck!
Hi! did you let your eggs sit pointed end down overnight- or atleast for 8-10 hours before setting them? I ask this b/c all I've done is shipped eggs and this does help them. Also set them pointed end down in the bator w/o turning for the first 5-7 days- helps the air cells settle & chick to develop. You might also want to have your humidity a little lower that 50 for the first 18 days... just passing along some tips I learned from the folks on here that helped me

Rolling on over from the February hatch thread!!!

I'll have a few hatches in March. But here's the details on the first one:

Set dates/Hatch dates - set on Thursday 2/14, hatch day Thursday, March 7.

How many? what kind(s)?- 4 of my Swedish Flower Hen eggs, 12 assorted Maran eggs, and 1 ??? from my friend (probably an Australorp or RIR).

what % of humidity do you like to keep? Days 1-18 I don't add water unless it goes below 20%. During lockdown I crank it up to over 65%

Good luck everybody!

Wait, wait, wait! Does this mean you won't be on here everyday just cause you don't have any eggs cooking @ the moment? and just cause you're doing that hatch along thing, does that mean you're not doing this hatch along too?????

I'll be here! I just wont be setting any eggs for a week yet.

Yep that's what I've heard too- but we wanted a few small ducks for our pond & no one around here has any so I got the eggs to try. The misting is only needed if you have trouble getting the air cell to develop big enough, and I do cool them shortly each day. I've been following the direction of someone I read about that's been hatching calls for over 20 yrs... but I am not having luck with it I think. I'm grateful that I have the 1 I know is alive, but was hoping for 2 or 3...

I want ducks too! Where would I put them though? I have been looking at the mandarins. They are so pretty! There's a guy by us that is selling them... he wants a FORTUNE!

Tar, you are my 7th hatch buddy. (March 7th, not 7th buddy, lol)

(Yes I know everybody on here knows this is an incubator and knows it takes 21 days to hatch, This is just a photo my wife uploaded to our family blog)
- As you may be able to see these are the blue egg laying strain of EEB. Would like to get some green ones in the future, just have to see how this first batch turns out.
