March Hatch-Along Thread- Come Hatch With Us!!!!!

YAHOO!!!

Even your "E"?? That's awesome! So glad it turned out so well for you.

Yup, even E! I am shocked it went so well considering the complications with three of them!

Might anyone have any ideas what kinds of chickens any of these might be? LOL

(Only in that container for a moment while we changed out the brooder bottom)

Silkie babies...I have NO idea what color the brownish blue will be. I have a BBS pen with one white girl in there. Wasn't planning on hatching until she was out but then a couple of girls went broody while I was on vacation and so...

We got a showgirl from our other pen that is almost the same color.

I'm guessing blue partridge maybe? Apparently Freida (our white silkie) was a busy girl. Several that hatched had to be hers.

Bantam cochins...the three amigos popped out one right after the other. Triple trouble. Ornery little squirts. Hope they aren't all boys. :)

Out of our 22 we have 15 hatched....3 more pipped..........waiting to see if the other 4 will decide to join. But not bad at all for a first hatch!!!

ughhh. I told the hubby it'll be his fault if his drown!! :X I dunno what to do.
I just had a staggered hatch between last week and this week. I raised the humidity (using sponges--faster to take out) for the one chick (only had one hatching a week early) and put paper towels under the egg during lock down (for easy clean up after hatch). Left the chick in there for about 10 hours after hatching, then moved it straight into the brooding box to finish drying. After taking it out I held the lid open until the humidity went back down to where I needed it. Now I've watched 14 out of the last 21 eggs hatch...with 3 more pipped. Only waiting on 4 to do something...I think if you don't have another way of doing a staggered hatch, this method may be the best choice you have.

Such beautiful chicks! I think I have the start of a pip, a cracked shell but the longer I look at it, the more my eyes play tricks on me. It's in the right place though, right by the 'X' I made for 'this side up', which isn't up anymore after they got shuffled around.

Yea that is true, I know I can sell on ebay but paypal is against me. I'm still a new seller so the money with holding limit is still effective. And I won't be able to ship anythin as I am broke. And I have an add on craigslist but no one's interested in EE's.

I guess I'll try it in the same bator, I need these ones due to hatch this weekend so I can sell them. UGH.

Well, I'm crossing my fingers for you - go for it the best you can!

I took him to the vet college hospital, and they took him in for the night, saying it is an infection that most birds don't make it from, but of course most people don't take them in, so... I know he is alive this morning, since the vet called, but the exotic/wild bird specialist still has to examine him and they will call back when they have a decision on what to do next.

They are very expensive.

WOW, what a good Chick-Mama you are.
