March Hatch-Along Thread- Come Hatch With Us!!!!!

Ok looks like the white thing fell off. I'm thinking it was an umbelical cord. The bleeding has also stopped. I'll have to take a better look in the morning.

Right now I'm having an incubator emergency... Turns out the cooling feature wasn't off like I thought it was. I immediately turned it off but the temps. weren't going back up. So right now the chick is on my chest underneath a fleece sweatshirt... I hope I'm keeping him warm enough.

It needs to be kept at around 98 degrees to prevent chilling. I could start drying it with a warm blow dryer (in short spurts so you don't burn it) to warm it up and dry it off asap.

Would it be bad that once the incubator temps. got back up to put him back in the bator? It's almost 1:00 in the morning and I do not want to have to make a trip in the dark, in the rain, out to the shop.

WOW! Okay, what a difference paying flippin' attention makes I tell ya!

So far - SEVEN live hatches and 11 more pipped externally! Temp and humidity seem to be holding well, although I've had to make minor adjustments along the way.

When they're this darn cute, I'll take a million, thank You!

(It's been hilarious watching them chase the feather dander around the brooder bin!)

Sorry for the colour - I broke the flash on my one camera, can't download from another and forgot to charge the battery for the third...
