March Hatch-Along Thread- Come Hatch With Us!!!!!

Hi,
I am unfamiliar with how humidity is set in your incubator...needs to be 60 to 70 the last three days..............
I am sure they are fine.I have late hatches frequently................so always leave my eggs for 25 days............Do you have a hydrometer?

Don't panic yet

Remember...Mother nature is in charge.................
Hi :) I have the temp at 99.6 and the humidity set at 70%. I am using a Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance EX. It has a built in computerized thermometer and hygrometer and controls the temp and humidity automatically. I locked down at day 18 and changed the humidity from 35% to 65% and then raised it at day 20 to 70%. I just want to pull my hair out right now. The waiting is so hard! I thought 21 days was a long time to wait. This is so much worse. Mother Nature needs to get a move on!

Thank you for your response. I will hang in there and hope that these guys just need more time. Perfection can't be rushed, right?

Don't get too worried yet. I know that's easier said than done, sorry! I rarely have mine hatch on time, so I'm used to it... Will be keeping good thoughts for you & hoping all goes well

Thank you :) Hanging in there. No change yet this morning. Gonna work outside all day so quit looking through the plastic every five minutes.

Oh, they are going to do fine!! My last set of silkies (in my Brinsea Mini Advance) hatched on day 22. For some reason the little kiddos forget to check their calendars.

I think they all get together in some "chickie-doodle meeting" to come up with ways to stress us out. But your Brinsea knows what it's doing... They're awesome machines. This is me talking you down & telling you they will be fine. Oh, and now that Pugbug is back... be careful. She likes to tie people to trees if they start messing with eggs at hatch time. LOL
Thank you so much and I will be a good girl and keep my hands off. :)

finally 2 external pips.. this is day 24.. been freaking out since day 21..
I am into the night of day 21 and have nothing. No pips, no cheeps and no rocking either. The eggs were all doing great when I went into lockdown day 18. I couldn't take it anymore and quickly candled two eggs this morning (my Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance EX holds the temp and humidity super steady and I had no ext pips) and they are alive, but look more like day 17-18 and I KNOW they are at a full 21 days. I marked my calendar (and the calendar in my phone too) when I set them. There are 17 silkie eggs in there and I am going crazy! I thought silkies were notorious for hatching early but didn't dare hope for that...day 21 though? I want to see some fluffy butts! Please talk me down and tell me they should still be fine...
not to worry it will happen i am just starting day 24 and one of my silkies just external pip..and another egg has external pipped.. so just now starting to get some action. i have been ocd since day 21..
My first chick popped out and has a good are of healthy lungs
Congrats.. on your newbie..
So I quit looking...lol.
dont watch them, I know what your going thru.. been doing it since monday.. been trying to keep busy.. the emotions are crazy.. are they dead are they alive, look at them they are just laying there.. man the thoughts that go thru your head.. so stressful.. I thought i was a patient person but now i know i have none when it come to hatching chicks.
hang in there.. keep us posted..
sending hatching vibes your way..

I need to check my calendar better, I found two Blue Swedish Ducks eggs pipping in the turner.

They are locked down now and fine, they had barely started pipping so no harm no foul. Scared me to death, that would have been so bad!

I put the eggs back in and started to put the lid back on i hear a peep !
.I looked and listen at the egg i just put in and sure enough hes supposed to be in lock down hatching yesterday! HE just had one friend in lock hatch today.

I dont know whats going on for everyone but the last 4 or 5 hatches ive had start to hatch on day 22 someplace .and go on as long as day 24..so anyone worried at day 21..hang in there.I have 2 out now ..DAY 22.....not the shell peeper yet though yet...

This is day 22 for me too....almost 1 pm and i had my first chick hatch about an hour ago. They come late a lot as well as early.
You did all could do and temp and humidity perfect so if it doesnt happen its the eggs.

Shipped or just infertile or something wrong..but you well may come in to peeping!!GOOD LUCK!!
If you dont....... Get more eggs FAST!!dont give up! it was a fluke!!
But try not to get shipped if you want success as they are a HUGE gamble You can get zero to 15 with them but usually not many I
got zero about 4 or 5 times in the last year
One just lately .(Maybe its me but i dont have the Brinsea either )Shipped i dont expect much.2 or 3 im thrilled

Wow this thread went fast! Latecomer but Im attempting to hatch my first batch with a homemade incubator. Set a dozen eggs on the afternoon of the 18th with estimated hatch day of April 8th. Candled on day 7 and one was an early death and 2 were yolkers... the other 9 are very wiggly little ones :D I got a flock of 6 hens and a roo from a local that was having to move. Had to rehome roo because I am in a residential neighborhood and since the ladies were still producing fertile eggs, I decided to say why the hell not... now Im addicted! Not 100% sure of the breeds of my flock. I believe I have a Rhode Island Red, a Barred Rock, an Austrolop... the other 3 are still unknown to me. If I remember correctly, I believe the Roo was also an Austrolop... he was very pretty. The excitement is killer! Cant wait to see what the chicks look like... and figure out what our lone blue egg producer is from HA!
