finally 2 external pips.. this is day 24.. been freaking out since day 21.. not to worry it will happen i am just starting day 24 and one of my silkies just external pip..and another egg has external pipped.. so just now starting to get some action. i have been ocd since day 21.. Congrats.. on your newbie.. dont watch them, I know what your going thru.. been doing it since monday.. been trying to keep busy.. the emotions are crazy.. are they dead are they alive, look at them they are just laying there.. man the thoughts that go thru your head.. so stressful.. I thought i was a patient person but now i know i have none when it come to hatching chicks. hang in there.. keep us posted.. sending hatching vibes your way..

Thank you for letting me know I am not alone. It helps so much! I just did a "Pip Pip Hooray!" happy dance because I finally have a teenie, tiny (but there) external pip! Woot woot!

IS IT DAY 22? i did you set them morning or night ? Dont worry too much yet. This is day 22 for me too....almost 1 pm and i had my first chick hatch about an hour ago. They come late a lot as well as early. You did all could do and temp and humidity perfect so if it doesnt happen its the eggs. Shipped or just infertile or something wrong..but you well may come in to peeping!!GOOD LUCK!! If you dont....... Get more eggs FAST!!dont give up! it was a fluke!! But try not to get shipped if you want success as they are a HUGE gamble You can get zero to 15 with them but usually not many I got zero about 4 or 5 times in the last year One just lately .(Maybe its me but i dont have the Brinsea either )Shipped i dont expect much.2 or 3 im thrilled

Today at 9am was the start of Day 22 for me. They are actually shipped silkie eggs. I paid for 20...received 24 (and set 1 of my own as a "test" so set 25). I had 1 infertile at day 7, 2 quitters at day 10 -for sure blood rings not just big veins-they were nasty, 1 quitter at day 14, 3 quitters at day 18. Locked down 17...16 shipped and my test egg. Sad to lose some but AWESOME for shipped eggs! They came from SC to Indiana and the weather was so cold. They are miracles! Being my first shipped eggs, the anxiety has been so much worse for me! So relieved to have my first pip!!! Thank you for the encouragement! Here are some pics of last weeks hatch:

Day 18 for mine and all 18 in incubator are rocking so all are alive I hope to hear peeping soon I am so happy for all to be moving and doing what they are supposed to be doing at this stage awwwe so sorry I hope the best for you and hopefully all will be fine....

So the 1 that still had movement has pipped, but it pipped through a vein!

I saw a little pip and blood coming out of it. Wiped at the blood droplet and I can see its beak moving and swallowing, but really don't think it will make it. Set it on a warm dampened towel and will check tonight when I get back in from school. Today is day 23 :/

Don't lose hope! They have many many veins, so one can close off and not cause much harm...and if the bleeding stopped and you see movement, that's a great sign. I have faith in the little one and think soon you will have little fluffy butt running around the bator

Oh my!

My lovely little 'Box-of-Chocolates' ducklings (various crosses of cayuga, saxony, blk swede and pekin and hatched Mar 18-21), were shown on our provincial news station last night - chosen as part of a weekly photo contest. Too cute!

I have had a chick pip through the vein before & hatch just fine! If it pipped through a small vein, the bleeding has stopped, and you're still seeing movement - that's good!

Oh I hope so! I had 3 eggs I left in the incubator, removed one that was weeping, the 2nd drowned after pipping at wrong end, and this one pips through a vein! It's not bleeding anymore, but looked like a larger vein still. We lost power 2 times so I'm guessing that's why we're at day 23 and everything's gone wrong :/

If this little one makes it, we'll have to see if the broody hen will accept it with her batch that hatched out yesterday. Or steal a few of her runts to put in with him? Not sure yet.
