She doesn’t look at all deathly, right? That photo was taken about half an hour ago, but she looks about the same right now. Except, she standing on one leg. Any ideas why she’s doing that? Is this common with egg issues? I’m a little concerned about a tumor or blockage or something.

Go to work. She will have an egg for you when you get home. You aren't there to see what she is eating during the day right? She does not look like she is dying. Stop digging in her!

No she does not look deathly. She looks like she is either working on a soft shelled egg or possibly an egg got deposited in the abdomen (sorry).
Her stance does clearly indicate, to me, she is not comfortable but you are going to have to give her some time. She looks like she is still very much able to make it to water or the nesting boxes if she wants too.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Yes, I believe she can still get to where she wants to go. I’m heading out to work, she’s in the same spot but is sitting instead of standing. Her eyes are bright and her face is still a vibrant red. If nothing else, I think I’ve learned that me stressing causes them stress, so I’m really making an effort to remain calm, which is a challenge for me. LOL

Ok, I reflected a bit on my way down the hill. I’m not sure why I’ve been so panicky. You all know I’m a paranoid chicken keeper, and you may or may not know I tend to be upbeat and bubbly, but I am usually level headed and remain relatively calm in stressful situations. So why is this different? I guess because I’m going out of town, this is really only my second sick hen (not including a couple minor things here and there), and Margo is top girl. She’s very dominant and a bit flighty, usually vocal, so this is a drastic change and it freaks me out a little. But at the end of the day, it is what it is and panicking does not help and stress makes things worse.
Can I tell you how much I love this group? It’s incredibly awesome to see the vast experience and knowledge come together for little Margo. Thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I’ll update at lunch.
