Margo is in Trouble

refuse to read anything a random blogger writes. REFUSE

You read what I write here as well as others and whilst we are not blogging as such, we are mostly not qualified professionals. I don't back up my statements with statistical data and yet occasionally I say something appropriate or useful, so I think it is a shame to write off bloggers en mass rather than listen to what they have to say and make a judgement based on your own knowledge and experience or do further research to check out their suggestion before implementing it....

Edited to add....It is surprising how you can learn something from a complete novice just because they have no preconceptions and therefore sometimes ask the most basic questions which make you rethink your understanding in order to explain it to them

I guess the key thing about a forum is that it promotes discussion and enables people to share ideas and persuade others or even change your mind if someone has a powerful argument against you, whereas a blog is just pushing one person's opinion without any challenge, which can be dangerous.

More than occasionally I have to say. :D

Kathy, you are too kind, but most of what I have learned on the subject of poultry and the opinions I have formed, have been founded by you and a select few others here on BYC who kindly share your knowledge and opinions ....so .... I'm throwing that compliment back at you :bow

I like this about BYC, one can research the poster's advice back to the begin of time to form their own opinion as to wether or not they know what they are talking about.

As for a "blogger" it isn't the same. They could be pulling things out of thin air and unfortunately there is no way to "see" where they get their info from. Also I prefer hard facts, book references and medical studies are a favorite of mine.
I also believe there is a lot to learn from first hand experienced chicken keepers.

I may have not phrase this properly...I am meaning reading random personal chicken websites/blogs...uh...I can't think of how to phrase this properly. :barnie
I was not meaning BYC at all.

@KikisGirls
No, I think you worded it fine and I probably deliberately misinterpreted your reference (my bad:oops:) to make a point that there may be something to learn from any or all of those "random bloggers" and being so deliberately averse to reading them might mean you miss something useful. My advice would be not to write anyone off because of the format they use.

Sure...I read everything, including blogs. I just have to shake my head at some of the things I read.
Maybe what I was meaning to say is I have a hard time believing everything I read on random blogs.
