Sally, you are welcome to try my system. I keep a notebook of contacts, the date of request, the date they want their shipment and the agreed upon price, including how and when (prior to shipping) they are supposed to pay. I also keep a calendar. As soon as I get an order, I put the ship date on the calendar and back up 4-6 days and note that I need to collect for that customer starting that day. I use the same calendar (it is one of the large wall calendars with lines for notes on every date) for set, lockdown, and hatch dates. It helps me determine if I will have enough eggs of the proper breed for my customers when they want them. I can also tell quickly how long I have to put them off. It for works for me!
awesome! thank you!

day old chicks go priority right? or priority express?  doh

Day olds can go 2-day. I always add some fermented feed with any birds I ship in case they get delayed for any reason.

Yep, those are the labels. I also stick those on or in swap boxes to remind me who I owe what.

how could you not have a water buffalo..... my motza will one day plow my gardens and give me milk and cheese

Oz have you ever heard of Tillers International? They are a group of people who go to third world countries and teach indigenous populations he art of working with (primarily) oxen. They have taught populations in Africa how to make and use the ox yoke something that never was developed there. The women train the young calves to pull a water cart so that they do not have to carry the water in jars 5 miles on their heads and risk getting killed by one of the worlds most poisonous snakes. Their work in with this one tribe has successfully lengthened the lives and the quality of that life for this tribe. They were losing about 3 or 4 women a year to snakebite and all of them were wearing their bodies out carrying 5 gallons of water 5 miles everyday. They fetch the water safer and faster and have more time for other tasks that can build their overall prosperity.

the website was referenced recently on my thread

in our area water buffalo are preferable to oxen as the majority of the work is in flooded rice fields.

motza got her first yoke last weekend. bernie, the filipino chicken phenom will introduce her to it this week. she is 15 months

in 3 months she will pull a trailer on flat ground but wont start plowing until she is three
