I got so angry at this situation that I turned to my husband and said, "If you ever did this to me, I am divorcing your butt and then finding a much younger man to take on vacation with the money I get from you." He laughed, but I was serious.

First of all, sorry about your troubles. First of all get a lawyer and find out the laws of your state before locking him out of the house and throwing out his belongings. For example in N.C., you cannot deny access to the home or remove property of the leaving spouse until they have abandoned the home for 4 full days. A friend of mine just left his wife of 16yrs due to her drinking and partying all the time. When the case went to court, she got burned for locking him out of the house and removing his property.

I realize emotions are running high right now, but just remain calm and if there is any mischievousness going on, he will hang himself without any help from you. Have you thought about getting a PI to watch him?

I agree with Joe. If my husband does this to me, then I will learn he is not the man I thought he was. Would you have said vows to a man who you thought would do this? No. It's entirely up to you what type of man you are or are not married to, thank God. If you want to be married to a man who has the capability to leave you FOR WHATEVER REASON, then by all means go talk to him. I know it's hard to accept change, and it's often easier to welcome blackness into our soul so we can pretend everything is the same. Don't let him take you. He can't man up, so good for you for lawyer-ing up.

I'm sorry you were thrown for a HUGE loop because of somebody else's weakness.

Electronic forums are a democracy, a really viable idea in that everyone gets a vote. With regards to your 32 year marriage, our votes should not count for much. While it is helpful to know there are people that care, I urge you to be cautious in forming concepts about what your future should be based upon the shotgun advice from a chicken forum. Hi Everyone I'm doing okay. Just taking one day at a time. I am so blessed to have people like you guys around me even tho it is via the computer. Just finished my chores. THe fawn Dori hasn't been feeling well so I put her on antibiotics as of yesterday and she is starting to get her attitude back. They too have been my salvation through this whole mess. Lou, I am coming at this from a different angle, I am initiating the seperation/divorce, but the mind chaos is unbelievable any way you slice it. What if? What if?

It would be so easy to just go on and accept whatever happens. I just finally feel the urge to stand up and say, no more!

Do what you must to get the answers you need to go on . Peace at last is what I wish for both of us .

AND , yes, it may be a chicken forum, but the feeling of being able to turn the screen on and have friendly people reaching out with caring messages... well, that's ok in my book. It helps with the "one day at a time" notion
