Mass Murder last night

I read somewhere that silkies are called ground parrots in someplaces. I will accept that definition. My daughter has them out playing in the side yard right now. She is sitting in the middle of them supervising. I can see and hear them but I am about to go out and sit too. Maybe take some pics.

I'm so sorry that happened to you and your girls! I would be heartbroken if that happened to us. I think it wonderful that so many people are offering eggs for you to start over. If you would like a few Golden Sex link Rhode Island Red crosses let me know. I don't live at home right now but over the summer I could probably get a few out. The are sweet girls and the roo is nice.

Thanks Chickypoo I really appreciate the offer. I am sure in time will want more babies. I am hoping my 4 survivors (3 silkies and 1 EE) will not all be roos so I can replace some of the silkie colors I lost. ALL my RIR and RIW are gone so I cannot make sex links. I may take you up on a few of yours.
THANKS
Dena

Sorry for you loss. I do not understand dog pack behaviour when it comes to killing, especially chickens. We have a "chicken barn" and close it up at night. This does not mean it is predator proof. We have two 12x12 heavy wire cages that are 8 feet tall. We lock up the silkies and the floor roosters in these every night. The rest of the flock roosts on top of these or on the rafters of the barn.

I can not tell you how sorry I am. We all try sooo hard to keep the babies alive and I do believe that 2 or more dogs are the worst thing that one can encounter. We have a couple that free ranged thier chickens just one day and lost 10 or so to a pack of stupid dogs. I have always said that once a dog gets the taste or kills a chicken, they should eat a bullet. Kudos for the killing of the dogs.

I have a Corgie that gets invited into the chicken barn every once in a while. The chickens can literally peck at her and she willl not give a response. It is not that I hate dogs, I just hate the ones who pack up and kill for NO good reason.

I have NOT sent it to the guy yet. I have been working on figures and making calls to ummm advisors...
I am actually going to request he pay the CURRENT VALUE of the birds, rabbit and Feed...$534.90

IF he does not want to pay that amount I will hire a lawyer and go for the other amount and I covered everything the Alabama County Extension agent told me to add in, except for the fence, grief and etc...Im not sure on those costs but he said a lawyer would know what to put in for those.

Does that sound Fair?

Thinking of you ---and hoping all works out with the replacement costs, etc...

I know that nothing will replace your chicks, and rabbit--by no means...but the owner(s) should surely have to take responsibility and pay you what you are requesting....

I will never get over people's irresponsibility........

Enjoy the babies you have.... and make plans replace in the spring---it will make you feel soo much better!
