Matted Angora Rabbit...

He is smooth with some tufts of matting on his back. His sides are one solid piece. His head is "clean" and his chest area is a solid mat that is "hanging" off a little at the top (like a collar) His underside is fairly matted too... I know matting/tangling will happen with any animal with long hair especially one that have the fiber fur that he does. It just seems more than what should be.

I sure hope so. But I do need to go to bed

I'll get pics and post them and we can go from there

I would not use DE for the fleas, that suff does NOT work.
Not sure what rabbits can use for fleas, maybe call a vet and ask?

The original Advantage and i think Revolution (revolution has to be gotten from a vet. Advantage doesn't.)can be used for fleas. DO NOT USE OTHER FLEA PRODUCTS THEY CAN KILL RABBITS. I use the cat advantage on my rabbits monthly for flea and ear mite control. Works well for me. You can get it from pet stores and I think TSC.

Remember the original Advantage not Advantage II. Good luck.

Let me know what you think and what the best way to tackle his grooming

also what color is he? his head is brownish but his back looks bluish with a slight brown tint...

I went this morning and got a tube of puppy/kitten revolution from a vet and applied it to him to kill off the fleas. We haven't hit hard on grooming yet because the little bit I did I realized how heavy his flea problem was, and I don't want to risk spreading them around and giving them to my other pets, I will start his heavy grooming tomorrow after the revolution to kick in.
