MAY 2016 "Land of the Free Because of the brave!" Hatch-a-Long Hosted by, Mike & Sally

Did I make a huge mistake? I have a Brinsea mini advance that I'm using for the first time. I missed the detail that said to turn the cooling cycle on after day 7 and started it on day 1 (this morning). I've turned it off now but am wondering if I may have ruined the batch?
Nah! You should be fine!

Litter boxes are my favorite egg boxes. They are portable and they clean easily. On the down side, they are too deep for the chicks to get in and out. That is not what I was intending them to do in them though. I have to help the chicks get out and then switch them to a nest that is lower, usually getting pecked in the process.
Yes, the covered litter boxes are great! If you are worried about the chicks, once they are all hatched, just use the lid. She should accept the change just fine.

Got 10 new eggs today. I'll start them tomorrow evening. They're resting in an egg carton for tonight. Think I'll need to keep them upright for a few days, so I'll have to take my egg Turner out and hand turn the dozen already in there. Super excited for these eggs! I've got Isbar due in 11 days, and blue-laced red Wyandotte and ameraucana eggs to start tomorrow. Woo hoo! Now just need more coop space...

So happy to send Blooie some eggs!! I will definitely be hatching in May! I have one batch of call duck eggs due around May 9th. And then I will be setting a batch of silkie eggs this week. I ordered a new incubator (since the two I have will be full). And as soon as it gets here I will set more silkie eggs, along with some Icelandic, buff brahma, and bantam Ameraucana eggs. Should be due around May 15-20th, depending when the new bator comes in! Excited to hatch with everyone!

What kind of bator did you order?

Good luck

I have six turkey eggs in the incubator that will be due to hatch on May 23. I'm hoping to have at least one or two poults out of it when it is all said and done.
Sweet. What kind of turkeys?
