Been too long and I miss everyone!!!
So, I'm ready to play!

I have some more shipped porcelain d'Uccles in the bator. Still trying to get a new flock going for Tobin. There are 9 due to hatch Saturday. Then I went to a chicken show and ended up swapping Serama eggs with a couple people! So I have 13 Serama eggs that will be due the 22nd.

The family went to PA without me for the month. Maybe I can be on here a little more!
TJ!!!!!! welcome over!!! go tiny serama go!!!

LOCKDOWN!!!! I have 7 standard EE eggs and 29 bantam eggs make it!!! The duck eggs look strong with 7 left for next week and 6 out of the other eggs for next week.

Did some candling last night on my EE/OE NN eggs and had to pull five. There are two other questionable ones but their shells are olive so it's hard to see what's going on in there. Still, nine out of fourteen shipped eggs wouldn't be bad at all!

All ten khaki eggs are trucking along. They're looking like they might be due before I think they are  This is why we need to mark down hatch dates on calendars, lol!

As for the WH eggs, one quit, but I still have 16 out of 17 coming along and they all look great.

I have at least twelve isabel leghorn eggs arriving tomorrow. My new incubator doesn't arrive until Monday according to the tracking :th

Well, we have our first broody....

Sickie, one of our Ameraucanas has not left the nest in 3 days. She will go outside about 2x's a day to eat/drink/mingle, about 30 min to an hr at a time, and during that time, another hen takes up residence for a while until she returns and boots them out. Trying to decide if I want to see if 1) she's serious about brooding and 2) she'll be a good mom or not... Decisions decisions

I never trust broodies, but many people do. I just think I hatch better

I am stuck at work. But the last update I got was 4 pips and 1 baby hatched! I know it was a Mille Fluer D'Uccle that hatched, but not sure what is pipped. This work day is going SO SLOW!!!!

I won half a dozen eggs from a contest here on BYC from MyPetChicken. Here is what their site says:

Although they are green egg layers, the eggs I recieved are brown! 1 of 2 GM eggs made it to lockdown.. no pip yet though

I really like that they are auto sexing!

I want to know what they look like as adults!

here are the other ones that might hatch! 1 of each

I learned from MPC that the eggs they come to us in aren't necessarily the color they will lay....the egg shell color is determined by the mom's shell painting gland, but the tendency for the chick to lay green eggs is inherited. So it depends on what hen was used to make up the mix, so to speak. Because Green Magnolias are a mix, if the hen always lays green eggs then our hatching eggs will be that color. When I got mine from the same contest, I had 5 Green Magnolia eggs in the mix - 3 were green and 2 were brown. Hope that helps.
