mule deer they call it pied.

Wow! Are they common there? We only have plain ol' brown deer around here. I am amazed I've never heard of this.

Last year a momma deer had a baby right in front of our lawn mower. That was on one side of the shed and this was waiting on the other side.View attachment 2155032

I read on another forum that mother's wll leave the fawn near the house to prevent the meat lovers from getting it.

The Mule Deer in SD are the same as the ones here in NE....just brown. Lol! I would love to see coloring like that here!

But they are in your backyard......Bear Country USA. Lol! (The Black Hills is one of our favorite places to go for a vacation that is "realativly close" to home.) We have Mountain Lions....some spotted within a couple miles of our house stalking a neighbor and her horse when they were out for a ride. I don't go for walks much anymore just for that reason.

Ducklings are hatching. I need to message my friend because I don’t want to keep these long at all. I want them gone

1st of may: 24 coturnix quails
9th of may: 24 coturnix quails
16th of may: 3 ducklings under a hen
23rd of may: 4 goslings under my broody goose
1st of June: 6 turkeys and 2 ducks together
19th of July: 14 Muscovy ducks

Forgot to add... I’ve lost 2 bantam Brahma chicks DIS. No idea why. My bantam is new to all of this so I will see if the other 10 hatch, they are pretty staggered so we will see.

My crushed shell chick made it through the night with the others. I'm getting ready to feed him a little as he is wobbly on his feet and doesn't want to leave the brooder yet to go to the food and water. So much progress since late last night though!
