May 2020 Hatch-A-Long

My broody OEGB had one external pip and one internal pip last night, so I’m hoping for some chicks today! Only problem is her nest is in the rafters, so I’ll have to move her:View attachment 2128574
😂 now that’s one place to put a nest until the chicks come out. Wonder if she thought that decision all the way through.

Lol yeah🤣. She’s up really high:

Originally she was laying her own eggs up there to incubate, but they weren’t fertile( I have a Bielefelder rooster) so I have her three standard eggs. Honestly, it’s a miracle she hasn’t roasted up there. It gets so hot in the rafters. I tried moving her, but boy is she stubborn😂
Wonder how she would get the chicks down 😂 Chickens sometimes are so smart they make stupid decisions.

Most of mine are now laying eggs in the nice nesting box I bought so that’s an improvement. I haven’t seen any go broody. I’m shocked my 2 year old Cochins haven’t.

Lol I love that, “ Chickens sometimes are so smart they make stupid decisions”:gigI’ll help her and the chicks down, and hopefully she’ll remain down🤣 I might have to separate her from the flock though, on account of her being the lowest on the pecking order and the smallest🐤
